How does it work?

  1. Browse through our range of gowns, dresses, and jumpsuits.
  2. Enter the date of your event in the ‘Special Instructions’ box when adding to cart.
  3. Once your order has been placed, you will get a confirmation email regarding your rental. 
  4. Your item will arrive in the mail at least one day, if not more, before your event. 
  5. Wear the outfit!
  6. Return the garment the next working day, using the provided postage bag and dropping it off at a Post Shop counter.
  7. Once we have received the garment back on time and in good condition, the $50 bond will be refunded.

The total rental period is 5 days. Please be sure to read the Rental Agreement here before placing a rental order.

If you know you will be unable to return on time then please let us know beforehand so we can arrange an extended rental, otherwise you will be charged the late fees applicable.

When will I receive my outfit?

We aim to get your garment to you  2 days before your event, however in some cases this may differ. If you need the garment any earlier, contact us here and we can sort something out.

What do you rent?

We specialise in formal gowns for balls, but also have a small range of sets, jumpsuits, play suits and mini and midi dresses to suit any occasion!

We also have a range of clutches and heels (sizes 5-10) available to rent, feel free to get in touch regarding styles and sizes.

Would you sell?

Unless it is featured in our “For Sale” category, we are only renting.


We post our garments at a flat rate of $15 using an overnight tracked service, so that you can check the whereabouts of your garment once it has been posted. The $50 refundable bond is included in this cost. Please note that after we have posted the garment, it is up to NZPost to get the garment to you. Their delivery targets are only guidelines, therefore we cannot be held responsible if it doesn’t arrive on time. In this case, we will issue you with store credit.

Suuuper last minute rental needed ASAP? If you place your order by 10am on a Friday, we can post your garment to be delivered the next day! Select ‘Saturday Delivery’ for shipping option. 

We also include a prepaid return post bag for a hassle free return after use.

Can I pick the garment up?

If you would rather pick up/drop off, you are welcome to collect from two days prior to your event. We are located in Howick, Auckland. Just select the 'Pick Up' option at check out! Please note you need to return the garment within 2 days of your event - if you would like to post it back, this can be arranged. 

Can I try on?

We offer try on sessions for $10, in Auckland. The sessions are 30 minutes long, in our home studio. You will get one on one advice and assistance to find the perfect style and fit! These sessions are by appointment only. Click here if you would like to book an appointment.

Can you post for try ons?

Dependent on availability, we are able to offer postal try ons. There is a $30 try on fee, plus shipping and bond. If you are unsure about sizing, email us at info@ballinrentals.co with your bust-waist-hip measurements and the garments you are interested in. We will do our best to assist! 

How do I find my size?

Sizing can differ from brand to brand and with types of materials, so it is best to refer to the size guide from the brand which will be stated in the description. If you are especially concerned about sizing feel free to email us with your bust-waist-hips measurements and we will work with you to find your best fit!

Can I get a refund if it doesn't fit/I don't like it?

We do not provide refunds, unless it is due to us having to cancel a reservation. In the case of a cancellation of a rental for ANY reason, we will only provide store credit to the amount of the total cost paid.

Do I dry-clean after use?

No! Dry-cleaning is included in the rent price, so we will take care of the cleaning. Please do not attempt to clean the garment in any way, even if you do stain it.

What if I need the dress longer than 5 days?

If you are unable to return the dress in 2 days or need the dress earlier, contact us beforehand to sort something out. If you fail to let us know, you will be charged as per the Rental Agreement.
